Overview
To enable the Canvas LTI 1.3 Assignment feature for the Faculty Dashboard, you must configure the Developer Key and ensure the required LTI Advantage services are enabled.
Step 1: Open Developer Key Settings
- Log in to Canvas as an administrator.
- Navigate to Admin.
- Select your account.
- Click Developer Keys.
- Locate and open your LTI 1.3 Developer Key.
Step 2: Enable LTI Advantage Services
Ensure the following services are enabled:
- Can create and view assignment data in the gradebook associated with the tool
- Can view assignment data in the gradebook associated with the tool
- Can view submission data for assignments associated with the tool
- Can create and update submission results for assignments associated with the tool
- Can retrieve user data associated with the context the tool is installed in
- Can view progress records associated with the context the tool is installed in
- Can view the content of a page the tool is launched from
Step 3: Adding Placement
- Ensure that Assignment Selection is added to Placements.
Step 4: Configure Assignment Selection
- Locate the Assignment Selection section.
- Add Target Link URI: https://landing.brainfuse.com
- Ensure Select Message Type is enabled.

Confirm the message type is set to:
LtiDeepLinkingRequest - Selection Height set to: 400
- Selection Width set to: 800
Additional Notes
- If the tool was installed after January 1, 2026, this configuration is already included in the default installation and no additional setup is required.
- All listed services must be enabled for assignment linking to function correctly.
- If any option is missing, verify your LTI configuration or contact your Canvas administrator.
