Tutor Audio Guide

Brainfuse Tutor Audio Guide

The following is intended to serve as a guide for accepting an audio request from a user or initiating audio with a user. For questions, please email [email protected].
  1. If attending a scheduled session: open QuickConnect and enter a scheduled session as normal.
  2. If participating in Instant Staffing: open QuickConnect, enter the “Practice Whiteboard” option, and await user requests.

If the user initiates an audio session:

    1. Users that select an audio session are able to initiate audio with an audio enabled tutor.

    2. Once the user initiates audio, a pop-up window will appear with audio options available to the tutor

    3. In the pop-up window, tutors are able to select their preferred call option from a drop-down menu:

a. Access Number: This option allows the tutor to dial a toll-free conference number on a cell phone or landline to enter a
secure conference call with the user. Once dialed, the tutor will be prompted to enter an access code (and pin,
if applicable). No special phone plan is required.

b. My Computer: This option allows the tutor to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to connect with a user.  If a tutor
selects this option, the call with the student will be initiated via the tutor’s computer and internet connection. Headphones
(or speakers) and a microphone are required for this option.

c. Call Me: This option allows the tutor to enter their preferred number to receive a call from the toll-free conference room.
Once the number is entered, a call will be received and the tutor will be placed in the secure conference call with the user.
No special phone plan is required.

    4. IF “MY COMPUTER” IS SELECTED
a. A new window will open with the connection status, mute option, and details regarding the speakers and microphone
in use. This window should remain open for the duration of the conference call. Tutors may minimize the window
    if preferred.

How users initiate audio:

1. Prior to entering a live tutoring session, users are required to select Audio as a preference for the tutoring session. Users
are able to initiate audio by selecting the phone icon found to the left of the tutor’s username in the chat bar.

2. Once the user selects the phone icon, a pop-up will appear and provide users the same audio options available to tutors:

a. Access Number: This option allows the user to dial a toll-free conference number on their phone of choice to enter a
secure conference call with the tutor. Once dialed, the user will be prompted to enter an access code (and pin, if
    applicable).

b. My Computer: This option allows the user to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VOiP) to connect with a tutor.  If this
option is selected the call will be initiated via the user’s computer and internet connection. Headphones
(or speakers) and a microphone are required for this option.

c. Call Me: This option allows the user to enter their preferred number to receive a call from the toll-free conference
room. Once the number is entered, a call will be received and the user will be placed in the secure conference call
    with the tutor.

3. If the audio icon is not available for the user, it means the user did not select audio as a preference prior
to entering a live tutoring session.

        a. If this occurs, you may ask the user to exit the session in order to select an audio tutoring  session.

4. If the audio icon is not available for the user and the user does not have an audio preference option prior
to entering a live tutoring session, it means the feature is not enabled for the account yet. If the user asks
and the feature is not activated, you can notify the user of the following:

        a. Audio is available and supported by Brainfuse! However, the feature is not yet active for your account.
