Clearing Web Browser Cache and Cookies

 

Brainfuse is designed to be easy to use for all students, instructors, and administrators. Brainfuse is optimized for use on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Chromium-based browsers.

 

Regardless of the browser used, at times you may encounter an error message that can be easily resolved by simply clearing your preferred browser’s cache and cookies. To help with his process, we’ve created this step-by-step guide for the most popular browsers used to access Brainfuse. To clear your cache and cookies, select the browser you use below and follow the steps shown.

Chrome

  1. Click on the settings icon that appears to the right of the address bar. In the current version of Chrome, this appears as three vertical dots .
    • In older versions it may be three lines or a wrench icon .
  2. From the menu, select More tools > Clear browsing data....

 

 

  1. Check the following boxes:
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files

Select All time in the Time range drop down box and click on the CLEAR DATA button.

 

 

 

Firefox

  1. Click the Menu (three stacked horizontal lines) then click Options

 

 

  1. On the left side, select Privacy & Security, then select Clear Data....

 

 

 

  1. In the pop-up menu, make sure both boxes are checked for Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content, then click Clear.


Safari

  1. Click on Safari and then on Preferences.

  1. Select Privacy and then click Manage Website Data.

  1. Select Remove All and then in the small popup, selection Remove Now.
     

 

 

 

The steps above should fix the issue in Safari. If it doesn’t, try the following steps for additional troubleshooting.

 

Safari – Additional Troubleshooting

  1. Click Safari in the menu at the top of the screen and click Preferences.
     

 

  1. In the Preferences window, click the Advanced tab and make sure the checkbox next to Show Develop menu in menu bar is selected.
     

  1. Select Develop in the menu bar on the top of the screen and click Empty Caches.

 

 


Internet Explorer (not recommended)

NOTE: Though Brainfuse is designed to work with your preferred browser, Internet Explorer is not recommended for use and may create additional problems. Brainfuse is optimized for use on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Chromium-based browsers.

  1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history....

  1. Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click Delete.

 

Microsoft Edge (not recommended)

NOTE: Though Brainfuse is designed to work with your preferred browser, Microsoft Edge is not recommended for use and may create additional problems. Brainfuse is optimized for use on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Chromium-based browsers.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more, which will appear as and then select Settings  

  1. From settings, select Privacy, search, and services.

 

 

  1. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.

 

  1. Check the following:
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files

Select All time in the Time range drop down box and click on the Clear now button.
